Hi,

I've added a new post to my TM repair blog, covering replacing the bag seal.

Great job. Looks like you had a lot to do. I think I would have given up a long time ago.

I'm glad it was of help! My husband kept asking me why I was taking so many pictures of what we were doing......when we started this project I was lucky enough to come across happytrails repair blog which was immensely helpful, and thought we should pass on anything we learned as well. Really, all I did was study the way the old bag seal was installed and try to duplicate it, and it seems to work fine.

We used 1" aluminum square tubing, duplicating what TM used, on everything. The outside edges we used cedar wood or poplar (from TM, came in the "repair kit") that we coated with Thompson's Water Seal first. If you study the pictures I posted, you can see where we took a length of aluminum tubing, glued and screwed on the wood to one side of it, then installed it with the wood out, so as to have a good surface to staple the bag seal, etc. We used the same technique throughout the project. Hope this helps!
