They lost so much talent when they moved to Nebraska and that was proof that the workers were pretty much everything to making an acceptable unit. The new company should either pay per-diem and a few days labor to have the old crew teach the new workers or perhaps the new company should pay top dollar to buy back a newer unit built in TN and reverse engineer it.

Lastly, just opinion here, these trailer companies just have to adopt the concept of quality control. Units should be fully tested. Water systems, electrical, propane, axle mechanics. If mine was actually tested, they would realize there was a water leak, a reversed polarity 12V outlet and one brake that was never connected because they did a wire-nut without stripping one of the wires first (how stupid!).

Default OES and TM

For what it is worth, if you search for OES Industries and TM Industries on the SD Secretary of State website
https://sdsos.gov/business-services/default.aspx
you find that both LLCs were formed by Old Elm Springs Hutterian Brethren LLC, a non-profit corporation whose business is farming. TM Industries was formed in June 2017. The three organizations have the same address: 42021 268th Street Parkston, SD. If you google the address, you can see the building that is on the OES Industries website.

The Hutterites are an Anabaptist group who are sometimes confused with Mennonites or Amish, and share some of their ways with the Amish and Mennonites but are separate from either group. They believe in communal ownership of property and live together in colonies.

I won't apply ethnic or religious prejudices yea or nay. They might make a good go of it. However, I cynically suggest that Bob and Cleo might have been unloading liabilities rather than assets.

There was nothing holding us back from creating a modernization of the Trailmanor design while Bob and Cleo owned it, nothing holds us back now. All relevant patents are long expired. Obviously the "Trailmanor" trademark is still valid and can not be used on an independent effort, but it's just a name.

The real value is in the dies, jigs, and custom tooling used to assemble the coach. Otherwise each unit is a custom. Does suit itself well to modular construction, mixing and matching end assemblies with center pieces & perhaps an extensible frame.

Does seem an odd buyer my question is "what did they buy & what do they plan to do with it ?"

I, for one, hope the new owners make the brand a huge success. Also, it may take a monumental marketing strategy to get a new dealer network. They've been promised some thing for several years now and may feel it's not a product they want to invest in. As with most things, shelf space is expensive. Lot space, is at a premium to whatever's sells most, fast, and profitable.

I'm a firm believer in the units as I've owned one since 2000 but for only a couple of years in there when I didn't. Everywhere I go with mine, it's the talk of the camp. When I has up, it's the talk of the lot.

It's not for everyone, but it may be too much money for most pop up buyers.

There is definitely a market for this trailer. People are constantly asking me about mine, and one guy asked for a tour and is seriously interested. Mind you, probably a used one, but there'll be a market for new as well. In many cities you can store up to 24" on your property. This means you can effectively have a 31' trailer in your yard without paying hefty monthly rental bills.

The downside is that their current marketing strategy that you can tow it with many CUVs may be misleading. Many vehicles have dropped their towing capacities. The last decade of Crown Victorias, the new Explorers are two examples of this.

Making my point... So when that guy goes for a tour and you tell him, new it's $27-30,000. Do you think he's still interested? Probably with a used one but factory doesn't make used ones... Need to sell new ones to replenish the used inventory if and when people move up or move on.

Default OES website - Trailmanor new owner

http://www.oesindustries.com/index.html

I just called them and asked. They confirmed they bought TM. Paul said it will be October before they will be ready to start. The foundation for the new facility is poured and the shell is up.

It is coming soon!

So they are building a new facility from the ground up? That seems like a lot of startup capital that could've been saved by staying put. Or is the Nebraska location actually holding them back some how (workforce, taxes)?

If they're doing all the metalwork for the trailer, it makes sense to make the trailer closer to their factory. Did OES supply the aluminum for the TM in the past? (Can we expect a stainless steel version ofa TM?)
