Both Savannah GA and Charleston SC are beautiful cities to visit for all the Old South Urban Architecture. I guess they weren't burned to the ground during the Civil War, unlike Atlanta. Just walking around these towns is a pleasure.

We've camped in between Savannah and Charleston on the ocean at Hunter's Island State Park, near Beaufort S.C., another nice Old South town, although smaller. But we've only been there in the fall, winter , spring. I bet it's pretty busy in the Summer on the ocean, so reservations might be required.
