Any idea what caused the break? If wood was rotted out and just failed, I would just remove it and replace it with a piece of treated lumber. If something else caused the failure, you need to identify the cause and fix that first.

I believe it was wood failure. Trailer is older but no sign of rot. Just seems like tough spot to get to.

Thats an odd place for failure. Did any thing happen during your trip that might have caused it?

Good luck with that. Does not look to be an easy job to replace. I would also suggest that there may be a water issue... thats right about where the outside shower compartment is, right? Does look like there are rust marks around those wood screws though.

I am 1 bolt away from having the old board removed. We did hit a bump pretty hard on highway coming home last night.

Question. It's in the up position now.. better up or down for the actual repair when I put wood and bolts back in? I thought abt jacking black metal piece into place to get everything bolted together but I've gotta be honest......I'm just winging it here....

There are at least a couple of members here that have done some renovations on older wooden models. MariaG and Hillbillyhotel are two members that I can think of that might shed some light on your repair. You might try sending a private message to them. I'm sure they would be happy to help.

Is the back section free floating as it seems in the picture? might want to support it with some 2x4s to keep it from getting twisted too much.

I'd probably do it with the modules up if you can raise them evenly, takes much of the load off the torsion rods. May need several jacks or jack stands.
