Default Excited New Owner

Hi TM forum,

First off let me say "Thank You Chris" for your hard work in solving the problems with the site and hopefully there won't be anymore.

Two weeks ago my DW and I drove to Henderson, Nevada and purchased our 2007 2720 from "NevadaCamper". He was the original owner, who bought it from the Anaheim, Ca. dealership. The trailer was in such good condition that it was hard to believe it was five years old. What really sold us was the many recent replacement upgrades it had including two new 20lb propane tanks with gauges, two new 6 volt golf cart batteries with upgraded wire, new hardwood laminate flooring and fairly recently replaced 14 in. ST's. The tire manufacturing date tells me though, that I will need to replace them by the summer of 2014. (next winter I probably will do a 15 in. wheel and tire upgrade including a two to three inch lift kit with metal mudflaps). Anyway,we settled on a more than fair price, pulled it home the same day and set it up in our driveway.

We are getting ready for our first trip, which will be April 6th-9th at Indian Cove Campground out in Joshua Tree N.P. We are hoping for good night sky that week to bring the telescope.

Planning more than a few upgrades, thanks to what I have absorbed off of this site and learning from all of you. Thank you, Trailmanor owners!

Tim & Lynda

Congrats on your "new" TM!

It sounds like you found a good one. We were lucky to find ours almost 10 years ago, it was 7 years old but looked like new. We have had a lot of good family vacations in it, and now that the kids don't camp with us much any more (we still tent camp with them sometimes), it's more than perfect for DH and me.

I personally love going to Joshua Tree, have been there several times, I bought a book "On Foot In Joshua Tree National Monument"

http://www.amazon.com/Foot-Joshua-Tr...onal+monumenty

there are so many great hiking trails there. We were able to go there in January once when the flowers were blooming, it was so amazing.

Hope you have a great trip and enjoy having your TM as much as we have!

Tim and Linda -

As B_and_D said, you will love Joshua Tree. We have been there several times, and are always anxious to go back.

There are several campgropunds in two general areas in the park. One area (Cottonwood) is near the south entrance. The others are in the northern half of the park, near the north and west entrances. We weren't impressed with Cottonwood, but have stayed in several in the north half. Jumbo Rocks is spectacular, but you end up setting up in a wide spot in the campground road. We didn't mind, since it was quiet, but it was not what we were expected. Hidden Valley was fun, as I recall. You'll want to do your homework.

B_and_D, do you agree? Further suggestions?

Bill

We've never camped there but have driven through Jumbo Rocks and Cottonwood. We always stay at Sam's Family Spa and take day trips (love those hot mineral pools!). Cottonwood has some good hiking trails.

Default Thanks for the advice

Thanks, B and D & Bill, for the Joshua Tree advice. We picked Indian Cove because we heard it is well protected from the wind if its blowing. We plan to check out many of the other campgrounds in the area for future trips. Thanks D for the book idea, ordered a used one this morning on Amazon.

I have only tent camped there to go climbing, but looking forward to bringing the trailer next time with the family. If your going for four days, are you also bringing a tote? I don't think they have any dump stations at Indian Cove.

Couldn't hurt to bring one, and hope you don't need it. Depending on the size of your family, you might be able to go four days without needing it if you are strict about using the campground toilets. Yes, they may be pit toilets and unpleasant, but wresting a tote of smelly stuff is unpleasant, too.

If you use a tote, remember that ten gallons of water weighs about 85 pounds. A tote that is too heavy to lift may be worse than no tote at all.

Yeah Bill & rocknroll, I don't plan on bringing a tote. It will just be DW and myself and she's going to use the Thetford (hopefully) at night only, then I'll stop at a dump station on our way out. I have read some of the horror stories about this toilet, but i will give it an honest try before I think about replacing it with a "Curve"
