Default Might look at a '99 3023

Note, I mixed up the model number in the topic.... should be 3023....

I've been lurking and learning here for a few months now. I might go to see a 1999 3023 locally: https://vancouver.craigslist.ca/sear...manor&sort=rel

Most TrailManors I see here are the aluminum framed trailers, which is what I'd prefer. The '99 would probably be wood framed. Most discussions I see here are regarding the newer TM. I am aware that I have to be particularly vigilant when looking for the possibility of wood rot.

What are other's opinions on the older wood framed trailers? Should I just hold out for an aluminum frame trailer? I know one or two of you replaced wood frame members. How difficult was it?

I'm tempted to seriously consider this trailer. It's larger, and it's local. I won't have to worry about import from the US, the exchange rate (which is terrible for us Canadians, but good for you south of the 49th). I am going to try to look at it today anyway. If the interior seems nice and clean, I may take a second look with my family.

Default (model 3023)

I called the owner and he told me that the charging system isn't working, or something like that. I'm presuming it's the converter? Also the Thetford toilet guage isn't working. I'm probably going to keep the Thetford, but maybe add a powered vent.

He also told me there is metal in the shell. On this site, I'm seeing the changeover from wood to metal took place mainly after 2000. Were some changed before year 2000?

I was pretty sure the changeover was 2002-2003. I would guess to be sure you could back our a frame screw or 2 to see if there is wood there?

I know for a fact that our 97 has aluminum tubing in the upper shell. I don't know if it's all over the upper shell. I can see it in the front lower corners and have had to drill into it to make repairs. Haven't had to drill into anything in the lower shell so far and the construction isn't visible. The repairs were to the main catches that secure down the shell while traveling.

This is sounding promising. From a few searches, I see that the TM converters fail quite frequently. This sounds like something I'd have to replace right away if I want any of the electricals to work.

Is it safe to assume that the brake lights and brake system are separate from the converter? He did say there had been a leak through the air conditioner seal, but has since sealed it up.

The biggest concern I have right now is the ability to store it on my driveway. The tongue would sit about 5 feet over the city property line, but the property line crosses my driveway. It would fit completely on my driveway, however.

If the converter fails you should still have 120vac (Microwave, AC) if connected to shore power, that is just circuit breakers. The converter portion just affects the 12vdc system.

ps try covenants that say "shall not be visible from the street"
