Default Replacing plastic trim?

Our New to us 1998 2720 has alot of cracked and broken trim, its the thin plastic 90 degree "L" along the top of bottom half main unit wall. Behind the sink, the bathroom and behind the wardrobe. I found a nice corner moulding at Lowes that is wood grain plastic but it is little thicker, I believe this is it. It is however very lightweight and looks much sturdier.

Has anyone replaced theirs and do you think it would cause any issued with sliding, the thing is maybe 1/8" thick at most, but the stuff that's there now is like paper. I can sit it on the ledge behind the slider unit and it LOOKS like there is plenty of room, but looks can be deceiving.

Thanks in advance

I had to replace mine, ordered it from the factory. You need to countersink the screw holes to get the screws to recess enough into the trim. The trim that I used as a replacement was a bit thinner than our original trim.

I found that ours was being damaged by the rear bed slides (the outside edges of the bed that slide in and out, bottom part) material being damaged. Every time it slid in and out over the trim, it was roughing it up. If you go outside and look at the underneath of the bed edges while the TM is open, you can see what shape it's in.

The countersink process is very exacting, I'd order extra trim in case you mess up a couple of them.

Now that I've fixed both the trim and the rear bed slides, it's been fine.

Good luck on getting the slides from TM. When I first bought my TM they were great about getting parts out fast. Those days seem to be gone now.

I have tried twice to get the slides from TM. They have been promised twice and not delivered once. Its frustrating when they promise to ship it and it never arrives.

I ran into the same problem when the mirror detacted from the wall. It was difficult to say the least to get much technical help, and I got a big yawn when I tried to get some similar wallpaper for bathroom ("Don't got, don't know where to get").

If you can second source any parts I would recommend doing so. I just wish they were as good as they were a couple of years ago...

Bryan and I both think that that trim piece is thick and would end up looking pretty beat up after repeated opening and closing. You could always try it. I used something like that as a quarter round trim around the floor, it looks good where there is no rubbing but it gouged quite easily when one of us jammed the door near the entry when we were closing up once or twice.

I've never had a problem getting parts from the factory. I've had them send me the wrong thing once, when I asked for a bed slide. They sent me the plastic strips that frame the channels and keep the bolts secured under the read bed where the support arms are and slide in and out (I kept them in case I needed one, compared to the shipping the cost was negligible). I've had good success sending a picture of what I want (if it's not self-explanatory) and then following up with an email.

If you're anywhere near Custom RV in Anaheim, CA, they've told me that if I ever have a problem getting anything from the factory to call them, and that they would order it for me.

Thanks for the input. Looked again last night. The screws in it now aren't countersunk at all, its such paper thin plastic you can see through it. The slides under the bed look ok to me. I think I'm going to only change it between the kitchen sink sidesplash and the beginning of the fold down flap and maybe same thing on stove side where the bed doesn't slide on it. I may fashion a piece with a couple pieces of velcro for the part that looks so hideous in the bathroom area and just remove to close. I'll post pictures at some point (if it looks good) Do wish I had though to take before pictures; it already looks like a different camper just from the scrubbing in and out. Still have 1/2 of outside to wash today

I couldn't get much further from CA, we are in VA! But I love CA, have dear friends in Alameda. I have to call factory for a few other pieces at some point soon, I'll start a list!
