First, it sounds like your TM needs a tune-up. If you are parked level, the two sides should be equal. There are instructions to do these adjustments yourself on this site, but I don't have the links handy at the moment.

Also, some have gotten away with leveling using the stabilizer jacks only. But, if you have to do a lot of leveling with the jacks, the metal frame of the trailer will flex causing the center of the trailer to be slightly lower than the ends. It is far better to get the trailer level side-to-side at the wheels first, then balance it level end-to-end after.

The torsion bars to weaken over time and may need adjustment. This could be a reason why the shells are not rising equally. You may need new torsion bars if they are adjusted to the max. This is the case for me.

If the frame is that flexible, why doesn't it tear the TM floor apart from normal towing over bumps? I am finding this difficult to believe.

It doesn't have to flex much to make the door fit poorly.

I would argue that if the frame did not flex, things would crack.

Yes, it looks that way to me. Trying to find a competent RV mechanic to work on my trailer, these adjustments are getting way outside my comfort level.

Kathy -

I hate to say it, but you will probably be unable to find any RV mechanic, competent or otherwise, who can handle adjustments to the Trail Manor lift system. The TM lift system is unique. Most RV mechanics have never seen one, let alone worked on one. The exception will be a mechanic who works, or used to work, at a TM dealership.

With no prior knowledge, I would guess that somewhere around Indianapolis, there used to be at least one TM dealership. If you can figure out who it was, you could call them, ask if they have anyone who worked on TMs in the past, or if they know where any of their past mechanics went. To find that ex-dealership, you might email Cleo in Sales at the present TM factory. She and her husband Bob (also at TM) have been with the company for a long time, and might have an old list of dealerships.

While a trip from Indy to the factory in South Dakota is not exactly a short jaunt (750-odd miles) from Indy, you may decide that it is worth the effort. Perhaps the factory has some slack time now in the winter, and could accommodate you for what is sometimes called a lift-system tuneup.

Default FWIW list

I believe Billy Sims in Lubbock is no longer in business. Was there last summer and I think they are now a Camping World. Might still have an employee that knows about tm's.

Pretty sure Danny's Campers in WI not only moved but no longer sells TMs -- that's where I got mine in 2009, and that was the last year they sold TM, moved 1-2 years later to a nearby location.

That being said, if he's still around they did used to sell and service TM, so they may still know how.

83RV in Mundelein, IL is a good family run shop, very friendly and knowledgeable -- they might be able to figure this out or follow directions on this site to do the adjustment. I use them now for my service, so if I can help let me know.

Smile Recent adjustments

Last September we took our 2619 to MCD on Cape Cod for some much needed adjustments to the shells. They have a mechanic who has worked on Trailmanors. By the time we went back to pick up our unit (the dealership is a 4 hour ride away from our home), there were two more in the lot that he was working on. Although there were no new Trailmanors on the lot, the women in the office says that they are still listed as a dealer and would like to sell some of the new units being produced.
