Default Heater in roof AC

Other than by operation is there a way to visually determine if a Coleman roof AC in an '06 2720SL has the heater option ? The unit has the HEAT positions on the selection knob but other than the fan, not much seems to happen.

I have a 2010 2619 and since parked at home and plugged in I decided to see what happens when I put the unit on Heat and turned it on. It took a little while but then it did heat the trailer. I liked the fact that it blows to the back and the front. Did you leave it on a while to let it "warm up".

It never gets hot. I would describe it as "very warm."
I think it is rated to be aprox. 50 degrees warmer than the air that is going into it.
So it will "take the chill off" but does not really heat the TM in my opinion.

I agree. It's mostly to take the chill out. I prefer a ceramic heater in both the front and the back to warm the TM.

If it has heat on the control knob I would think you have the kit installed. The kit includes a new knob or sticker that has heat on it. You could take the ceiling cover off and you should see the heating coil in the duct going to the roof.

We added the heat strip which we got at a local (45 miles) RV store. It cost about $65 and was not hard for DH to do. The heat setting was on the controls before we had the heat, so you can't go by that.

And ours get pretty warm in the bed area. Our AC is in the rear shell over the bed.

The only time the heat strip wasn't enough for us was the time we camped a bit too early in the spring (April in Chicago/Wisconsin) and it snowed. For that trip I brought (and used) a separate heater in addition to the heat strip.

Otherwise, to get the chill out at night or during a cool day, we use it almost exclusively. One less thing to pack...

Next time I have the camper out I'm going to get the model numbers off the AC and ceiling cover and see about getting a kit. I like the idea of not bring the 1500 watt heater, except on those very cold trips.

Mine came with the kit, but there was a recall on it some years ago. As I recall, it was as easy as removing the cover (some screws), removing the old heater (some screws and unplugging the cable) and then reversing the process. Shouldn't be a big mod.
