Default Bike Rack

I wonder if this would work for our Trailmanors
https://www.amazon.com/Lippert-Compo.../dp/B01MYRM7MM
I saw an add for it in "Trailer Life" magazine May 2017 issue

You'd have to take the entire top part off to open the front shell.

It's 100 more pounds on the hitch, between the bikes and the rack itself, when the TM is already a little on the heavy side as far as hitch weight is concerned. And as far as I can tell, it bolts into the same bolts as the jack itself. If I had to use the emergency crank, I guess I could remove the bracket entirely. It's just three bolts.

It sounds like it's worth trying. It's an awkward looking thing, but if it works it really will solve a problem.

Interesting. Manual for rack says that it weighs 25 lbs,and that it can carry 80 lbs. Positioned that far forward, much of the weight is on the ball. My hitch is rated for 600 lbs. trailmaonr loads it at abou 400. WDH is another 65-ish.

Wonder if a loading problem is created? Or can the wdh still level it all.

Hypothetically speaking of course.

I have a 4 bike swing away, that mounts into the receiver hitch on the back of my 3023. Haven't used it in years, but it worked great, and although the bikes had to come off, the rack itself could stay mounted with the trailer open.

Similar to this model, although mine isn't that particular one.

That one looks as though it is designed more for trailers that sweep back - which TMs definitely don't. Not sure there would actually be enough room for the bikes, since they mount to the rear of the post. If it is far enough forward to not hit the TM, I would be concerned about hitting the bikes with the TV while backing to make a sharp turn. I'm basing this off the photo, which may not be a great angle to judge these distances.

On a number of web sites, the device is described inconsistently at best. In one place, it says that the bikes are carried by the wheels. Another says that they are carried by the frames. One place says that to use the device, you must have a power jack. Another place says that a manual jack is OK, but only if the crank is in the right place.

The pictures are not great on any of them.

I'd want to be sure I understood things like this before opening my wallet.

Any reason you'd rather have one on the tongue, rather than the rear? Just curious. I also notice you have a swing hitch - which has been known to have a weak point - how much stress would a bike rack & bikes add to the swing tongue?

EDIT TO ADD - Sorry, for some reason I confused who originally posted, and the last comment. Not sure if the original poster has a swing tongue.....

Ed- Just so you know I'm working on somewhat copying your rack but with a 3 bike model. The OP's rack actually mounts around the tongue jack with the jack bolts, not very convenient to disassemble in order to open the front shell.
