I agree with rvcycleguy, adding more weight to a TM would mean bigger tow vehicle and higher cost. The Rise is more practical. We just have to be patient until it's available.

When we were shopping we looked at some small trailers like the Casita, Scamp, Aliner and MPG and felt they would be fine for sleeping and cooking but not roomy enough for spending much time in them like when the days are short or the weather bad.

We felt the 2720 SL was the perfect trailer for us. So far it has been. Feels like a home away from home. The day may come when age prevents opening and closing and another option will need to be found but until than we love what we have. Maybe Padett will come up with a solution to that potential problem.

There is probably a market for the Rise but I don’t see it as a replacement for the 2720.

Redtail, I am talking about the same added weight as a 32" LED TV. About 0.5% extra. Plus a 3/8" electric drill if power assis is needed. Am "assuming" the issue is raising the modules and lowering is NP.

Padgett, sounds like you should get to work and invent it, patent it and find somebody to build and market it.

Default Mechanical life for shells...

I think this has been tried before. There used to be a youtube video on the shells lifting mechanically. I could not find it. I googled around and this came up...please see the 9th post:
http://www.trailmanorowners.com/foru...ad.php?t=12092

If I remember correctly...it was kinda jerky and jerked with what seemed a lot of force. Could be fine tuned though. Unfortunately the link in post 9 no longer opens for me.

Duh...I am up too late...title should say lift not life.

Frankly I'm 67 and open mine by myself, no need to reinvent the wheel or the fabulous TrailManor!
Those that think so need to camp more, engineer less and enjoy the sites

Some will like the Rise as some liked HiLo, but it was heavy. Good for TM that they are innovating. Hopefully this will be good for the company - more models, more choices, better more stable financial platform.

Sorry but more money and weight for less space, sounds like the same recipe that killed the Hi-Lo.

Personally think the idea of the current TMs with 42" extensions on each end plus a slide is brilliant and focus should be there.

That said, tuning the torsion bars seems to be more an art than a science akin to tuning six DCOE webers, gotta have a Uni-Syn to do that.

Get it tuned right and can open with one hand like the factory says (they don't mention what it takes to close when tuned like that).

I suspect that proper tuning requires either templates or specific measurements at four points on each module when unlatched but not raised. Would be very nice if the factory would release an SOI for field maintenance and tuning. Right now mine requires a grunt for initial opening but closes by hand. With a link to assist with initial opening I suspect that would be about right.

Real problem would be that while such a SOI would be easy for my 2720SL, creating a universal one would take a day with access to all of the current models. Am really surprised TM has never done this.

I have little free time but maybe able to get started this Saturday iff'n th' crik don't rise. Maybe the factory needs to associate themselves with a professional engineer skilled in writing tech manuals.

When I was at the factory. We saw the first prototype. It sound like since Hi-LO is out of business and hi-lo had 2 main issues the cable pulley lift system and it's weight was almost the same as a TT. TM belives they can capture that market with a better mouse trap. A lighter trailer and a better lift system. They were talking about the Rise coming in around 2800 LBS.

I think they are looking for a new market, not to move people from the fold down models.
