Default Gap.......

I have about 1/2 inch gap between the "front bed" and the "outside wall" on the front of the camper. We are level and the bed is hooked in place. Does anyone know of an easy fix for this or do I need to replace the white seals pieces?

Are you sure the slide pins on the swing out arms under the bed are at the furthest point? Sometimes that plastic washer grommet gets stuck or broken or the slide pin gets cockeyed on one side or the other.

Hi Cindy, when you say the bed is hooked in place, do you mean the two slide pins on each side are engaged in place? If so, there shouldn't be a gap on the front wall. When I slide my bed forward, it's the wall that stops the bed from going any further; however if you have a gap, I would think that you could get some door insulation to fill the gap. It comes as a foam strip in various widths and density and has an adhesive strip on one side.

Hmmm. If there is a gap, and the bed-securing pins are in place, might the front shell be over-extending? Is it possible for the lift arms to go further than vertical? I ask, as I have not had to adjust mine, and don't know if it is possible. Seems like it would be (since there is an adjustment bolt to limit upright position).

Just a thought.

LoveToCamp, that is a good thought. Inside each wall is a device called a pocket stop. That is what limits the travel when the shell opens. I know that a pocket stop is adjustable to some extent, but I have not tried to do it. The pocket stops are accessible when the trailer is collapsed, I think, though until recent models, they are hidden behind white plastic pocket covers. There is a picture of the covers in the parts list on the TM web site - but not the stop itself.

Anyone who has done this, please chime in.

Thinking about it, even if the shell went past the desired point, couldn't you still lock it in the right place with the outside pins and and lateral stabilizer arms you swing up to hold the shell.
I agree though that the right adjustment would be a better solution, if it's out of whack it will just get worse as time goes by.

The pictures definitely show a gap. Picture 1 is front, is pic 2-3 front or sides? It's hard to diagnose over the internet with text and pics. I would lean more towards the roof is too far extended. But that would also indicate the Dutch door does not necessarily match up. Is this gap the only issue?

Does the overlay flap secured by the Velcro cover the cap? There is a bit of a gap which allows the shell to move and fold.

cindy
here is my 2 cents worth, if the shell is latched? I think the bed is not pulling all of the way out, for what it is worth, did the kid next door put a penny in the track underside? mud-dobber nest?
if the bed is latched, shoots my theory down. but I do want to know when you find out.
