NP. I do a lot of energy management studies and could tell a Honda eu2000i could run my AC and tried a number of things before deciding the soft-start was the best answer.

To my surprise the Predator with a larger engine had more problem starting the AC than the Honda (which I suspect is somewhat underrated). Finally came to the conclusion that the larger, long-stroke engine could not rev fast enough to keep up with the starting current. Soft start cured that also.

Along the way found the Westpro WH2000 which was actually a 2200w (starting)/1800 (running) device despite the smaller motor, just using more modern components. Incredible: a consumerdevice that was underrated.

Then they came out with the WH2400 and since less than a 10% real increase I could see happening with a minor redesign. That is the one I have been using all this year since only need one and fits in the rear compartment.

That ability to fit in a 14.5" wide compartment eliminated a number of other contenders like the 2400/2600/2800 Yamahas (which all use the same engine). Suspect if I had a 2922 this would not have been an issue.

So it works for me.

ps Northern Tool has a Battery Eliminator Plus on sale for $24.99. When parked in the grotto I can disconnect the coach and have a connection in the rear bumper (can access when closed) for the little 1.33A charger/maintainer (no shipping if have a store nearby). This is working better for the two GC2s than the little HF floats I use on other cars.

here's my Christmas present with the wife testing it out with her 1875w hair dryer running at max. No problem Thanks for your info Padgett on these gens and on the other genny thread. Being able to put it the rear compartment is a big plus. Unless I plan on running ac I'll just top it off and not carry a gas can? We dont plan on running a microwave and I just got a bunch of LED bulbs so usually pwr consumption is minimal. But these have been on my radar for a long time. Previously had a Jayco pup. At some point probably go tri fuel. Most times just use the 45w solar we have.

Looking good. Tested mine with both a 1500W heat gun and a 7,000 btu portable AC. The 2400i and my (now obsolete) Predator were the only ones that could handle both.

I was able to run the AC on it ^ It was cold so not for long. The other thing is I ran it for 3 hours to charge the batteries and it's quiet but not as quiet as the Honda 2k. Not bad though and it only used 1/4 tank for that. I love it.

Well a 2400 is going to be a little louder than a 2000, just the nature of a generator. Is much quieter than my Predator (NLA).

Lets say the batteries (GC2's) are down to 12.2 in the am. How long should I run it to get full charge? Efficiency mode or not? The only other things charging are maybe a couple of cell phones plus maybe a few blips of the water pump thrown in. All else running on gas. Just learning this stuff.

Depends on how you are charging the batteries, through a converter/charger or from the DC output (8.3A AFAIR).

With my solar I am usually at full charge by 9 am and a cup of coffee (3 min at 64A) takes about 24 minutes to recharge. I usually only need the generator for AC.

Trailer plugged into gen. 110vac. So through the converter. Which is better? Last weekend the solar wouldn't have been much help. It was dark and rain off and on.
