Default Plug in while closed.

I notice that the power cable is accessable when closed. Canyou plug her in when she is closed up? I know without access to the battery you wouldn't want to plug it in for too long. I am also worried about the converter not getting any ventilation and over heating.

This topic has been discussed several times. It usually morphs into "But what about the hydrogen?" You could find and read the relevant threads, and be reassured (I hope).

To summarize. There is NO PROBLEM with running the converter while the unit is closed. If there were, TM would not have made a major change a couple years ago to make the power cord accessible while the unit is closed.

When the TM is closed, there is A LOT of empty space inside it, and it would take a whopper of a heat source to cause any appreciable amount of heat buildup. Further, at least in my TM, there is a 4" screened vent hole in the floor behind the converter. The converter has an internal fan for cooling, right near the converter's fan.

You're thinking you wouldn't want to leave the cord connected for too long. I agree, but "too long" is probably two weeks in an older TM, unlimited in newer TMs with a better converter - and heat is not the problem. Older converters, at least, would tend to overcharge your battery if left on for a long time. There is a better converter in 2006 models - I don't know when the changeover took place.

So relax, enjoy your TM, and don't worry - at least about this particular issue.

Just as a point of interest, I replaced my 35 Amp converter with a hi-tech Progressive Dynamics 9160 convereter (60Amp). I find this dude runs its fan in Phoenix all summer when plugged in.... It thinks it is cooking itself here in the desert. This was not considered when I installed it and as a result, I charge the battery for 2 days or so, then disconnect from shore power. So much for the "stirs the water every 23 hours to reduce sulfation" idea.
