Default Going through BC Canada

We're heading across to Canada in a few days to get to Prince Rupert. Does anyone know what you can't bring across? especially regarding food, camping supplies, etc.

thank

Made the trip many times and the Canadians have always been very helpful and polite at the crossing, much quicker and easier than crossing back into the USA. As may be expected, weapons and drugs are a main concern. You can find a list of sites on Google that will give you all the information you need. Here is just one of them.

There are some restrictions on foods - coming back into the US. Basically, anything fruit or vegitable that doesn't look like it was natively grown in Canada is not allowed. See: http://tinyurl.com/5w2eot

I travelled with the TM through Canada last year - it was quite easy to get into and out of Canada. Going into Canada, they worry about guns. Coming into the US, they worry about food. I will refrain from the obvious political statements I could make.

Firewood. Don't even think about it. A couple years ago I had three or four cubic feet of firewood confiscated at the border - granted, it was Alberta, not BC. They had a huge dumpster filled with confiscated firewood, and spilling down in to a large pile outside it. They are polite about it, but they are firm. Apparently there is some pest that they are trying to keep out. Can't blame 'em.

We just took a trip with our TM to Prince Edward Island CA, and returned 10 days ago. We entered Canada at Port Huron in Michigan, where the border worker asked us if we had any alcohol, tobacco or firearms, gave our picture id's a quick glance, asked how long we would be staying and said "have a good trip".
We returned to the USA in Maine, where they diverted us through a big building where they were sending truckers, and I was preparing myself to open up the TM, instead they motioned us through where we stopped at a window that is meant for semi-drivers, way above our head, the worker could not see anyone in our car but the driver and we could not see her. She asked us how many were in the vehicle, and how much merchandise we were bringing home, plus if we had any food. She NEVER even looked at our id's.
I had brought our birth-certificates, my marriage license, a notarized statement from my DH that I could remove my son from the USA, our photo Id's, health certificates for our dogs, everything I was advised to have since we don't have passports yet, and needed practically nothing. I was really shocked at the lax security re-entering the US especially, our borders certainly aren't secure.

We went through at Sumas Wa./BC. The other thing that you couldn't transport across was pitted fruits. (nectarines, apples, etc.) I didn't know that apples were a pit fruit. Oh well! All other veggies and foods seemed to be OK as they didn't ask us about them.

On to Alaska!

cheers,
bruce

Default camping suggestions, PEI

We are driving our 3023 from CO to PEI this fall. Plan to also wind our way thru New England states following the fall colors. Any suggestions regarding places to see and especially good campgrounds would be appreciated.
