Valspar is the manufacturer of the polyester coating Krystal Kote. A guide to maintenance is available at the following web address:

I contacted Valspar concerning waxing the TM. Valspar does not recommend using any product containing petroleum distillates as their use could soften the paint. In addition, waxes containing polymers may not adhere properly. Valspar
feels that waxing is not necessary because their product has "slick surface" properties that inhibit dirt adhesion. The bottom line is if you wax use a natural ingredient product such as Zymol or any other non polymer, non petroleum distillate wax. In addition, do not wax decals as this will eventually shrink and crack them.

2010 2720SD

Anyone know if this has always been the exterior coating? If not, what year did it break into the production?

I can only speak for the 2010 models as this was the advertised coating used.
Maybe trailmanor can answer your question. As a new owner I did not want to apply a product detrimental to this finish.

I have a TM brochure dated 1995 that says they have Krystal Kote exteriors.
