The fundamentals of these trailers are unchanged. Same torsion arm configs, some set up steps, etc. Given time I expect the SD factory will hit its stride. Right now I would find a 2014 out of Tennessee if I were looking.

I have too many pictures to post, so I will put up four from inside the 3124 and one from outside showing the dual access doors under the bed.

Feel free to contact me if you have specific questions.

Great job Larry and thanks for the updates and pictures; do you have any pictures of the outside of the new one from the SD factory? I wanted to see the new Black/Green color scheme if you have a picture.

Not sure I like that cabinet configuration in the bathroom - where do you stand when you try to swing open that large cabinet door?!?! I much prefer the older design of two smaller doors on the straight cabinet under the mirror.

I do however, really like the two rear access doors. Wonder if it's something I could add... I do use the cabinet under the bed - but just for towels and extra sheets. I could easily put those somewhere else, as I would prefer more 'outside' storage. I end up putting things in my TV, because I don't want them taking up space in the TM when I'm only going to put them outside as soon as I set up.

Default New TM's in Englewood

I am posting a few outside pix in about three consecutive notes to show the trim & finish.

As to the two compartment access on the 3124, I do not know if that was a custom request of the buyer or something they offer or plan as standard. I will say that if you have that you need to be diligent about security as one can easily go from that outside door into the trailer if the outside door is not locked. The bathroom angled cabinet would not be my preference. Any square inches taken up in an already-tight toilet area seems a bad idea. The difference in counter heights across the kitchen with the sink is probably personal preference (swing down faucet or fixed faucet with lower sink area cabinet.

Bill, I don't remember either trailer having the Thetford on a pedestal, so that is probably just a poor photo frame job that is misleading your eyes. Seemed normal to me when I was in the two toilet areas.

My main shock was the poor wiring. Whew! Note that first set of pix where the wiring in the cabinet next to the fridge is very much in the way of upper storage and simply not good workmanship. I showed that to the dealer and recommended a comment to the shop floor.

Well, can't say I like the orientation of the dump valve either. Looks like a knuckle buster to me - there have been plenty of times I've had to pull fairly hard to open the valve. You have way less leverage to pull up, rather than out.

Excellent job with the pictures Larry!

I now understand your point with the wiring: My new 40k+ TM and I open a cabinet door and see nothing but a birds nest of wire and wire nuts?

I agree there is no way that should be such a mess and so easily accessible; at a minimum you should see soldered connections with wire wrap along with ties for a more organized appearance, and it should be tucked away!

But good to see new units being cranked out, and hopefully they get some of these QA issues resolved.

In your second series of photos -----

Picture 1 shows the dump valve handle pointed straight up. I think this is an assembly error, and easily corrected. The pull-handle is on the center slice of a three-slice sandwich. The sandwich is held together with the 4 nuts and bolts you can see at the corners. If you remove the bolts and open the sandwich, the center slice can be rotated to any direction. So if I got this trailer, I would simply open the sandwich, rotate the center slice so the handle points outward, and re-assemble the sandwich.

In the third photo, I'm not quite sure what I am seeing. Presumably the silver thing in the lower left corner of the photo is the water pump. The water tank is probably in the black-and silver box, but why such an elaborate enclosure? I don't think I understand how the white drinking water hoses link the low-pressure fill inlet, the high-pressure fill inlet, the water pump, and the tank. Looks wrong to me, but it is hard to be sure.

The blue finned box appears to be an inverter (probably not a standard item, but maybe an option?), and the black box beside it is probably a solar charge controller.

The long white slinky across the center of the picture is presumably the vent hose for the battery, which is in the black box at the far right. It will be hard to get thje battery in and out of the trailer, since access appears to be partially blocked by the water tank enclosure. There appears to be an extra (unused?) outside vent above the battery vent hose.

In the fourth picture (and others), you are right. The arrangement of the electric cords and wires is unforgivable.

And the fifth picture indicates that the old 3500-pound axle has been replaced with a 5200-pound axle. Is that something new, or did I just miss it?
None of this is a crippling defect - it is just teething problems. It is a nice unit, and I wish it were mine.

This appears to be located in the street side of the rear compartment, accessible once you open the rear shell, correct? If this is the case, I really don't like the water holding tank located at the rear of the trailer, so far from the axel. Not the weight, but the fact that the rear end is the bounciest part of any trailer. Do you really want a half full tank of water to cause even more bounce? I could be wrong, but this seems to be a stupid location for the water tank.

Default New TM's in Englewood - water tank

I expect some one decided an open cabinet under the sink was preferred to any downside(s) to having a water tank hanging off the back end.

As to Bill's observations on all the stuff in the driver side rear compartment - it is very full. Hence the need for the other side just to get take along the odd water hose or cord. Bill, there is solar on the 3124 so some of the kit in the rear compartment relates to that add-on feature.

I agree the lads in SD are quite close. If they listen to some user advice I think they will be producing some good units within a month or so. May already be making the changes as this Englewood dealer told me that at the Colorado Springs show he just returned from there were some owners that came by and offered some "improvement" comments. Interestingly he had not noticed the wiring issues.
