Mattress mods - topper or inflatable?

We bought a ntu 2720 at the end of last season and love every bit of it - except the mattress. My back is usually killing me in the AM, so I'm pretty sure I need more support.

Folks on here seem to favor a mattress topper, inflatable, RV Superbag or some combo. I'm looking to minimize setup/breakdown time as I have two little ones and it takes us an hour to set up and break down as it is. I'd prefer something that can be left on the bed but sounds like clearance is a common issue.

Thus, I'm leaning towards an inflatable with a superbag, but have some questions:
1 - does your inflatable go on the mattress or underneath? If underneath, does a standard 110v pump have enough power to inflate it?
2 - what is the thinnest air mattress you've found? It seems like they are all standard 8" thickness which seems like too much when combined with the existing mattress.
3 - how warm is the RV superbag vs standard bedding? We were chilly last weekend with a sheet, comforter and blanket (40 degree low) so I was thinking of getting a heated blanket.

The previous owner put a thin piece of reflective insulation material on the bottom of the mattress. I'm planning to make a larger version with Velcro so that I can bring it up and over the seal between the shell and bed, kind of like a vapour barrier.

I was gonna mention something similar about insulating the bottom of the bed. Can't help as far as modding the mattress goes. But it's on my list of stuff... I'm actually thinking about having a piece of memory foam cut to size.

In cold weather, we use an electric blanket , under the sheets, to warm us while sleeping. The bed areas get cold due to the cantilever aspect. Cold air below the bed slide, keeps the bed cold and colder as the night goes to morning.

currently unavailable. Ours was the first review. It's not as soft as our home bed, but softer than the stock mattress.

It's a combination of air mattress and memory foam. Nobody has actually spent the night on it yet, but it seems like it might work well.

I took our mattress out, and just used the Coleman air mattress with 3" egg-crate topper. It took 3 minutes to inflate both mattresses (we had the 4-in-1). Much better than the original mattress!

Got an AirDream Queen XL mattress, first time out was this weekend. It's an inflatable/inner spring mattress, made to replace sofa bed mattresses. Takes all of ~-45 seconds to inflate, deflates about as fast. Fits perfectly in the tray, and stays there with a blanket on top when I close my shells.

More comfortable than any other solution I've tried, yet. Only negative (and this may be an issue with my mattress and/or desire to over-inflate) is that by the next night it wasn't as super-firm as I like it, so 10 seconds of pump and it's back to my preference. I can reach the port from the hall without taking down the bathroom, so I just leave the pump plugged in on the floor next to the stool I use to get into the bed. Simple night-time top-off, and I'm a happy camper!

Note: If you like a softer feel, you may not even notice. We did, but we like our mattresses on the firmer side, without the squishy or poofy toppers that have become very popular.

So far, very happy. Will report back if this changes. This is the 4th or 5th different solution we've tried overall.

VERY expensive but well worth it, IMO. At least as good a night sleep as our Sleep number bed at home. Size is a tad big so you have to talk to it to get it in the frame.

We just went with a down feather topper. We tried a memory foam pad but the shell would not close. The shell closes fine the the feather topper. It sleeps much better than just using the stock mattress.
