Default camping on the river

My wife and I went to the Texas Hill Country this past weekend. As you know, sometimes when you ask for the best spot on the campground, Pop-ups and tent camping get as close to the action as possible. Our spot was as close to the river as you may want to be. It was a pull through site with full hookups. Little bit of a challenge to make sure the sewer hose was not running up hill.... The waters edge was literally 8ft from the TM bottom step. Had to be very careful not to fall out or in the river. Comal River, spring fed, shortest/longest river in Texas.

I was in New Braunfels several years ago in the middle of Summer. I remember that it was so hot and humid that at the Schlitterbahn water park dozens of people were just standing in the river for relief. They weren't playing, just standing there.

I also seem to remember a little lake nearby that has glass bottom boats on it where you can actually see the water kicking up the sand as the it comes up from the ground. I don't remember if that is where the Comal starts or some other river nearby.

I also remember an abandonded waterview theater on that lake where they once had had a pig who swam underwater.

T and C. The glass bottom boats are at Aquarena Springs up the road a piece in San Marcos. The river there is also spring fed and is a constant temp of cold... The pig used to dive off a platform. Swine Falls. lol.. Yes, we do Schlitterbahn many times and as the slogan goes, Its the coolest place in Texas. We have a new one here in Galveston but its not nearly the same as the original New Braunfels park.
