Did you go to Alaska in a Trailmanor? If so I would love to hear about it. Even 1 little story....

There are many Alaska stories on this board. The Search tool is your friend, and a Search on "Alaska" will bring them up.

Stopped by the ACOE visitor center at the Rock Island arsenal and picked up the Corp's camp ground book for $18. Gives the CG name, Directions, corp district, and GPS coords. Even shows the free cg's they have. Districts are shown on each state map.

Everyone,

I've learned another helpful step in researching campsites. After I find where I want to stay, I look up the satelite image on either Google Earth or Google Map (switching to the satelite view). By doing this, I can get a better understanding of how close the site is to the 'stinky' vault toilet, how close the site is to the neighboring sites, and at least an idea of the amount of shade on the site.

I would bet a lot of you already do this, but I thought you may all find it helpful.

Default Finding Campsites

We were introduced to The "Good Sam's Club" thru Camping World by my brother-in-law and for $12 including shipping they put out a 3 plus inch thick directory of Good Sam's Campgrounds and non Good Sam's for the US and Canada. We just bought our third edition. We have used it for at least 4 years and it has been really good to use. If you have a membership, there is a 10% discount at Good Sam's member Campgrounds. Each campground is rated and we find that to be very consistent.

We also use Corp of Engineers Campgrounds and have never been disappointed.
