Swing-up Tongue Jack

Has anyone tried mounting a clamp-on swing-up tongue jack on their TM?

The center mounted tongue jack is causing me a few issues.

#1. It is in the way when I try to swing my trailer dolly around to store the dolly against the trailer without having to unhitch the dolly.

#2. It is in the way when I open the tail gate on my truck.

#3. I don't like having to take the wheel on & off and crank the thing all the way to the top, for towing.

I put one on my boat trailer (2800 pounds) some years ago and it worked fine. Only issue I can think of is if it will get in the way of a wdh if you have one.

No WDH.....this is one of the reasons that I don't want to use one (beside the fact that I don't need one ).

My main goal is to simplify this whole camping thing and eliminate as many steps as possible.

This is the issue that I was having. The trailer dolly would not go past the TM jack post, which left the dolly hanging out in my parking space:


After attaching the swing-up jack, I can pull the dolly out of the way and leave the trailer attached. It also makes it so that I can open my truck t/gate without hitting the jack. That was a real nuisance and it was worth installing the swing-up jack just for that reason alone.

I LOVE the blue.

That style jack is also nice because you can fold it up without reeling the wheel up by turning the crank 8,000 times. You just lift it up slightly off the ground, and fold it up.

I wonder why the center mount style is preferred....cost perhaps?

Not much to tell.....it works.....

I was going to paint it black but I thought, "Ya know, if it's blue, it will stand out and I will be less likely to forget to put it up before I take-off".....

I think that getting rid of that center jack would be great with a van too. I would imagine that you can't open your t/gate at all....

The center mount is required with the front slide out models.

Perhaps the center mount makes it easier to level the unit, front to back? It would seem a side mount might torque the frame just enough to make the curb side slightly higher and the street side lower when leveling front to back - more so with the torflex axles.

I can open my back hatch while hooked up - as long as the handle is folded down. Clears it by _that_ much. :-)
