Cleaning mattress cover???

I giving my used 2004 3124KS a top to bottom cleaning before taking our first trip in three weeks. Has anyone had experience in cleaning the mattress cover. I have mine off the foam mattress and am prepared to take it to my dry cleaners. Is there another and/or better option?

I'm sure there are differing opinions but I just took mine to a commercial self-service laundry and used the big machines they have for sleeping bags and such. I used gentle cycle and Woolite. I allowed the cover to air-dry and was very pleased with the result. Fresh smelling, no shrinkage, and the previous owner's cat hair and dander was gone. I am not a big fan of the "dry clean" smell (and chemicals) so this is the route I took.
