After reading this thread i'm thinking about un-recessing the battery. To add a second battery, I acquired 2 MK Group 24 Gel Cell batteries, put one in the original location, and one on the opposite side of the trailer in a NAPA battery box, lower shelf of the interior storage space. The box not recessed, and is held against the exterior wall by a wood block screwed into the floor, and non-skid material underneath it. The trailer would have to roll for it to move. It's a space that's hard to get to for storage anyways, balances the battery weight nicely across the tailer, and does not need to be vented because it's a sealed battery rated for indoor use. (Sold as a wheelchair battery, but MK says it the same as a RV/Marine battery, and it has the same capacity of the similar size style battery) It has an 84.5 a/hr rating at 100 hours (whatever that means)...it's not the biggest battery that will fit in the boxes (they'll take a 27) but since i'm in the medical field i get the batteries for free :-)

I had considered doing this also but haven't had a chance yet...we use size 27's and so far no problems...starting tonight we will be on battery power for the next two weeks for sure maybe longer
