May I ask what happened to your 2002 2720SL?

I bought the '02 new and about 2 months later it started leaking all over and the ceiling was delaminating arount the front roof vent. The dealer tried to repair the top three times and each time the delamination would get worse. It got so bad that I could flex the center of the front shell by 3-4 inches by pushing up with my hand. The factory rep. was in the area when I took it in for the fourth time. He took one look at it and decided to take it back to the factory for warranty repairs, so off it went.

TM had to retool the factory to replace the tops because the engineering design had changed in '03. The dealer got word that the TM was ready and went to pick it up. He was also picking up a new 2720 for his stock, so hook the new 2720 to the truck, bolt a 2 inch receiver to the back bumper and hook my 2720SL to that. Homeward bound and on the bypass around Burmingham, Al, a combination of high speed, high cross winds, truck traffic and elevated roadway destabilized the tow. The front TM flipped over, mine did not. Witnesses said that the trailers were at least 6 feet in the air. At this point the dealer has very little control since the rear wheels of his truck are held off the ground by the overturned trailer. Somehow, he brought the tangle to a stop without involving any other traffic. The front 2720 was totaled, was put on a trailer and hauled off. They welded a new hitch on mine and towed it back to the factory where it was pronounced totaled. The dealer was able to drive home with minor damage to the truck and his ego.

The dealers insurance replaced my '02 2720SL with an '03 2720SL.

2003 was the last year for the 4 inch square tube bumper on TM's. There were a couple more accidents with delivery drivers and double tow's. The new bumper design prevents towing a second trailer.
