Ok, I have successfully gotten my TM into and out of the single car garage, so it is definitely possible. I will need to post a whole workflow sometime, but for the moment I have just a few pics of the mods necessary.
I have also laid down tracks in the garage for the wheels, and permanently mounted a winch to the back floor of the garage (as discussed above). The winch is needed for going up the driveway, and into the garage, as well as controlling the "descent" down the driveway (which requires a curve, pics later).
The larger oval exterior lights had to be replaced with lower profile LED fixtures, and the awning was made removable with latches to hold it in place when outside the garage. With these modifications (and removing the wheel on the door, which is all of a few seconds with the power drill), there is sufficient room (just a few inches, total, but enough) to get it in and out without too much trouble.
Yes, one latch carefully placed on each side is enough to keep the awning perfectly stable and attached to the TM, even opened and in a wind (tested prior to driving).
When I get a chance, I'll take pics of the clearance when entering/leaving the garage, just to show the tolerances for anyone else wanting this information.
