I did the same mod. as Bailey’s Mom and it is one of my top 3 mods. I hatted putting anything else in the bumper compartment because of contamination. It is a great storage space and I felt it was just being wasted. My other to faves. are plastic on the shower walls and ultimate water transfer bridge.
Paul, I like the idea of a larger door on the front storage area as I never use the small one. Hmmm, how hard was is and you got a pic?

Ha ha - my bucket solution was a 'quick fix' because I hadn't gotten around to do the hanging gear mod to my back storage area. I really like that idea, and still plan to do it, but it's way down on the 'to do' list. Now that the snow is gone, my 'to do' list is mostly filled with clearing downed trees and branches from winter, and other associated tasks with getting things cleaned up around my property.

Lesherp, it was one of the more useful mods I've done. I was unable to find a door that would fit, so I had to fabricate the opening and the door myself. It think that I posted a photo of it on this forum. Maybe do a search under my name?

Inside the 4" square bumper itself (with removable end caps) on our 2003. But it sounds like every model doesn't have this style bumper.

I did something similar with the 4" square pvc fence post. Initially I used 36" long zip ties, but one snapped and I upgraded the attachments to some j-bolts and a short holes strap on the bottom. It's very secure. I had two caps on the 4" pvc, but the street side came off, but I find that my dump hose stays in place. So, I'm not worried it will slide out.
Now if someone were to use a 5" square pvc fence post then you really need to make sure you have a cover to prevent the hose from sliding out.

My 4" pipe is primarily secured with the same plumbers strap that you are using. The 4 zip ties are secondary. The heavy duty zip ties are incredibly strong. Nice thing about the 4" pvc tube, aside from hanging down an inch less, is that caps and fittings are available at any home improvement store.

I am making two brackets now for installing a sewer hose storage tube behind the gray water tank. I will take pictures if anyone is interested. The brackets are 1/4" x 4" x 4" aluminum angle 8" long. I mounted it with hex head self-tapping screws (3/8" head). Drill three 1/4" holes in a triangle pattern in the aluminum angle that will mount to the frame and two holes in the other part of the angle the will mount to the Valterra Adjustable EZ hose carrier. Cost: Aluminum angle $20.65 w/tax and six self-tapping screws plus 4 1/4-20 bolts nuts and flat washers were $3.19 w/tax at my local hardware store.

I made two storage units for the hoses out of fence posts and fence caps. I just hinged the caps to the post and strapped the posts to the frame. This gives me access to the hoses at any time.

Storing Dump Hoses
We JUST purchased a 2005 2720SD. We love it, but have a few things to work on. We have no access to any storage compartments when closed, and we cannot lift the rear bumper cover up when closed. You have collectively given us some great ideas here. I am wondering if our rubber bumper pads that the bed unit rest on are worn so much that they snug the bumper cover down so it can't be opened? This is our first TM, so we don't know a lot. Any input would help. I assume we could get new rubber bumper pads? Thanks for the good ideas!

Just undo the back latches on the shell and you should be able to get the hose out.
