Default Question about Pets

We will be getting our new TM2720 this fall, and are really excited about moving up from our tent to the new "home". We are wondering about how others on this forum travel with pets. What do you do when you take day trips, such as the Grand Canyon? Are there places you take your TMs that you don't/can't take the pets? I suppose, since we don't have ours yet we shouldn't worry about it, but DH is a planner. We would appreciate any advice. Thanks for all the great info from all of the members.

Our dog is a major part of the family. He goes or we don`t. Be sure to check campground rules as some do not permit leaving pets unattended for any length of time. Especially important in hot weather as it can get very in the TM if the power goes off and you are not in the shade.

Hi -

Our Scotties go with us at all times. They own the couch with me, and the wife has the La-Z-Boy. Scotch & Bourbon just love camping and driving in the SUV.

Don't know if you will face many restrictions with your pet. Many parks have leash rules and prohibit "agressive" breeds. And dogs are generally not allowed on trails in national parks. Might take a bit more planning before you go to find out what restrictions you might run into. In general you probably won't need to leave your friend at home...

Lucky for us, our Brittany dogs let us use the TrailManor anytime we want, just as long as they get to come along. Our dogs are never left alone in the trailer without us being either in camp or at the site next door visiting our friends. Most parks have rules about barking dogs and one of the parks we go to is very strict. One complaint and there is a good chance you need to pack up.

When we go for our 10 day camping trip once a year, we reserve two back-to-back days where we kennel them at a local vet and then we go do some touring for the day. So the dogs are at the kennel from perhaps 9:30 am to say 4:30 pm each of the two days. The dogs are not kept at the kennel overnight.

Last year was the first year we had the TrailManor and on our anniversary weekend we did do a dog-free camping weekend. We put our three dogs in a local kennel and then went off to the campground for the weekend. The kennel cost us more than the campground and going out to dinner.
