Water tank filling modification
I have a 2003 2720SL and I was wondering if anyone has done a modification to create a couple of pass through ports/doors so you could fill your water tank without opening it up.
I would like to be able to pull it without water and when you come into a new camping area to fill up when I get there. Most of the parks around here have water but it's usually not within hose length of the spots we end up in and it would be nice to fill up right when you pull into the park before you get to your camping spot.

The "Ultimate water transfer bridge" modification that some of us have done: http://www.trailmanorowners.com/foru...ad.php?t=10458
I did that, plus added a hose port onto the hot water heater drain. This lets me fill both hot and cold sides with the shells closed (albeit longer than it takes some going through the fresh drain). It also allows very easy filling of the tank when empty, without needed to lift and pour anything, using the on-board pump.

The "Ultimate water transfer bridge" modification is some work but every time I use it I I think it was the best modification I have done. I just got back from a month trip and used it numerous times to fill the take when the shell was closed and to add water from a container using the trailer pump while boodocking. The link above didn't work for me. Look at post 25 in this thread.

I have a deck plate and would call it handy but the "Ultimate water transfer bridge" is dandy.
Hmmm, looking this over the picture The Pair shows in his first two pictures is not what you need. His third picture looks like his final design.Take a look at post number 32 and this link.

I built the bridge before instillation, and had my sink out for another repair.

After I made sure it works I changed the hose to the white drinking hose, it works well , depends on pressure available but forty gallons take under ten minutes everywhere I needed it.

So how exactly do you know when it's full doing it this way? Are you leaving the outside cap off so it can overflow? I love the simplicity of this modification.

I re-routed the "breather tube" to underneath which now acts as an overflow. Fill it up from the bottom 'til water starts coming out of the overflow tube......EZ - PZ, cheap and quick

Yep relocating the vent tube allows it to act as an overflow, simple, effective solution to filling with a hose in the down position.

The water transfer bridge is more to refill the tank when you're parked at a site without water hookups. A side effect is that it also allows you to fill the tanks.
That being said, I may add a port to the tank drain to fill that one faster, separately. I'm going to think about it...
