We had the pleasure of meeting members of the New England Pilgrim Chapter of TrailBlazers at their fall rally on September 8, 9 and 10. Bourne Scenic Park is located on the mainland side of the Cape Cod Canal and affords wonderful vistas of the canal. It is not uncommon to see a large vessel plying the canal as well as an occasional cruise ship. The campground extends just over one mile along the canal and is well maintained with very clean rest rooms and showers. The sites are spacious and nicely situated to take advantage of the many trees and rolling hills that are typical of the Cape. Most of the locations have electric and water with a gray water (trickle) dry well (no sewer).
Eleven TrailManors set up for the three-day rally and three others were there for either Saturday or Sunday. One of the chapter activities was a leisurely bike ride along the canal on Saturday morning. After a round trip of about 14 miles, we returned for a relaxing lunch.
As new members of the chapter we enjoyed meeting the rest of the group. Sharing camping stories (a few members attended the Jubilee in Colorado Springs this past June) and unit modifications was one of the highlights of the weekend.
