Default 2720 SL vs SD eating area opinions

Hello TM Owners,
I'm considering buying a 2720 and wanted opinions on the eating area.
On the SD, the dinette provides seating for 4, facing each other. I thought this might be good for dining or cards/games.
On the SL, the tables fold up in front of the sofa, right? How do 4 people eat at the same time? I guess you can put 3 on the sofa, and one in the chair?
Is it comfortable, in the SL, to sit and eat from the sofa or chair or do you have to sit forward without back support?
I have back issues and where and how I sit, at all times, is critical.
Thanks for any input or advice.
See you on the road soon.
Neil

You hit on exactly why I would prefer an SD though two folding camp chairs can be set up on the other side. Table is a little narrow for four though.

OTOH couch is nice to watch TV or a DVD. On the gripping hand the dinette bed can be used for lounging also.

ps I did have the SL front bed collapse once, since then I add a 4x4 brace.

The dinette seat backs and bottoms are only plywood, padding, and fabric. If you don't like the way they are, they're really easy to modify.

The chair and couch has worked fine for us the last five years.

In the SL model, there is an extension (like your dining-room table) for the street-side table. When you slip it into place, it provides more surface area for plates, silverware, etc. The extension doesn't quite fill the gap in the middle, but the gap becomes narrow enough that it can be tough for the cook to slip through it and get to the kitchen. And four people on the couch can be a pretty cozy crowd. We don't often have four adults eating at once, but when we do, we have found that a small collapsible table in front of the chair is a better solution.

On the other hand, we like the couch a lot. It is very comfortable, and faces the center of the trailer. For two people (or three), we feel it is ideal.

To each his own.

Guess the big difference is whether you prioritize TV (couch) or games (dinette).

I think the number and size of people camping would make a difference, too... The fold down couch (we have a 3326) is perfect for our son but I can't imagine an adult sleeping there. Is the dinette any larger when converted to a bed?

Yes, the dinette is a little (6", I believe) longer when converted to a bed. The couch has arms, which encroach into the sleeping length.

I thought my wife would prefer the sofa, as it gives a bit more floor space. But, I took her to look at both models, and she insisted on the dinette. She much preferred the table situation, and wanted to be able to look at the people on the other side of the table while eating. The sofa is harder to get that setup. Plus, when dining, it is easy to look out the window over the other peoples' shoulders, instead of looking left or right. Minor, but a factor.

And, as indicated, the dinette is a better sleeping arrangement. I have used it for adults (5' 9") for a few weekends, and it is more comfortable than a folding couch.

It all depends on your situation. For us, the dinette is a much better option than the couch. For Padgett and Bill, the couch works better.

Didn't say that. I have a 2720SL but would prefer a 2922SD.
