Default CD controls not working

Hello all -

We have the Panasonic radio/CD combination, with the ejectable control module. It has worked well, but when I put in my last CD none of the controls, including volume and even the eject button, work. The module still comes off (and goes on) easily but nothing I have done allows me to control the CD. We like the CD which we have played many times before but we are getting mighty sick of it.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Hi -

I have the ‘Alpine’ FM/AM CD Receiver, when I have problems I remove the detachable front panel then I press the reset button on the back with a ballpoint pen or similar pointed object. It brings the unit back to normal, maybe this will work for your unit. This is just a shot in the dark.

Pull the fuse in the main fuse panel for the CD player. ( Check manual for which one). Leave it out for about 2 minutes then reinstall. That should cause a hard reset and might fix it.

No problem, let us know when the problem is solved, then we can fix ours if we have the same problem. Thanks, good luck.

Default We Ran Out of Time!

I am sorry to report that the solution to my CD problem will have to wait until Spring. We ran out of time in our winterizing and camper projects.

I want to thank everyone for your suggestions and will let you know the results at the beginning of the next camping season.

The forum provides not only information and insight, but also the confidence to try various mods and improvements, knowing that the TM community will be there as the resource we need. We appreciate all of you.

Default Hard Reset worked

We just opened our trailer for the first time on 2013. With all power off it caused a hard reset on our CD player, and when we put the face plate in out popped our renegade CD.

We are nervous about putting in another CD. Our son gave us a beautiful Blaupunkt unit for Christmas, but it has a current output rating of 10 amps vs the 2.2 amps of the old Panasonic unit and we mostly boondocks camp. So we don't know what we will do next.

Anyway, thanks again for your help.

That is like maximum output power capacity, i.e., the output if you hooked up capable speakers and were jamming to heavy rock 'n roll. But the TM stock speakers are pretty small, and I would seriously doubt you'd get close to that.

If that's what's holding you up, call Blaupunkt and ask them how much current or power it draws. You may even find that info in the manual. The unit in my TM, which is probably comparable (i.e. one of the cheaper ones out there) draws 0.4 to 0.8 amps, depending on volume. Even if your unit were double that, it's still not very much power -- 1.5 amps is the current draw of just one incandescent light.

I'm no hookups also, so like to conserve power, and I totally agree with Dave's advice. I have a Sony deck and an Alpine 4 x 45 Power Pack driving two Infinity's and two Polk Audio's. Readings from my battery monitor: One Incandescent bulb--1.5A. Stereo at low volume--1.4A, really jammin'--1.7A. XM adds in 0.3A. Just for comparison TWO LED's at full intensity read 0.4A, and dimmed to 1/2 read 0-.1A.

I checked the Alpine manual and oddly it gives Power Output but nothing on power consumption.

So go for it, but replace those factory speakers and really enjoy!
