What size tote?
We pick up our new 3124kb in two weeks so we're beginning to accumulate all the stuff that doesn't come with it. Amongst those is going to have to be a portable grey/black water "tote" since we are often in locations where it is electric only and need to haul our waste over to a dumping station.
Question is: How big of a tote should we get. I see that Thetford's come in 12, 18, and 27 gallon sizes. Immediate reaction is to get the 27 since it is similar in size to the TM holding tank but then, I thought, "There's a reason these come in smaller sizes!" I know that water is 6 pounds per gallon and assume that waste is similar. Is weight a factor I should consider or should I just get the 27?
What about storage when travelling? Where do you put these things?

Have you considered getting a macerator pump?
If you are camped close enough to a restroom to run a garden hose from your TM to the restroom toilet, a macerator pump may be a better choice.

The 10 gallon blue Barker tote fits in the rack beside my spare tire. I think that Bill reported trying to put his there and it did not fit, so it seems that placement of the cross framing members underneath is not consistently the same. Virginia Deacon reported not being able to completely empty a Thetford tote in post http://trailmanorowners.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6401

Note that water weighs about 8.3 pounds per gallon at 70 degrees F. Gasoline weighs about 6 pounds.

O'mgosh. Your're right! I confused gasoline with water. No wonder the water tastes so awful ! Good thing I don't smoke! <big grin>

We just tried putting our Barker 10gal. tote next to our spare. (New 2008 3124kb) It doesn't quite fit. The biggest issue is that the gas line goes through there and makes it tough to squeeze the tote in.
Does anyone know if there is a specific reason why the cu gas lines meander down the middle as opposed to being tied to the inside of the outside frame?

I think mine is 20 gals and yes it is heavy dragging it into the truck bed. If you do it right and don't fill it to full capacity it can be done.
If you are going to use it at a campground the 20 gal will save you an additional trip to the dump.

On our TM the gas line runs about 3 inches inside the outside frame.
