Question Drinking Water Hose

Sorry Probably Dumbest Question EVER

We was getting ready for our trip & hooked up drinking water hose but noticed what may or may not be a problem.

First this is Drinking water hose

But when I started running water to test all the plumbing it started lowing with a very bad odor & a milky color with suds. After a few minutes it was clear again with just a slight odor.

My questions:

1. Is this normal or a sign we need to buy new hose?

2. Also if we need new hose is there better hose to buy or should I just buy what ever says Drinking Water Hose?

This would not seem to be normal at all. To clarify, you had your fresh water hose attached to some water source and turned it on. The water which came out was milky and smelly. This didn't have anything to do with the TM. Are you sure your water source was clean? Was the hose drained between uses? How long was the hose? Is water coming directly out of the faucet you connected to usually clean? I'm thinking that if your water source is known to be good then it must be the hose. And whatever is happening if it is my hose it is going in the trash. As an aside, I always drain my hoses between uses and fasten the two ends together to make sure it stays clean.

Yes I am sure since it is my house & I double checked also.

I planned on buying new hose tomorrow just for safety but decided to ask to see if I was overreacting. It stunk so bad it was like a concentrated Ammonia smell but as I said it has gone away after flushing it well. But I agree with you it may be going to Land Fill.

Thanks for the answer I really thought this was a dumb question but I just don't have much experience with fresh drinking water hose soo thought I would ask my buddies here.

Mark it up somehow so you know that is bad hose, and then use it as a garden hose.

I do as Scott O does, and drain the hose(s) after use and connect the ends together. Before I hook it up, I let a little water run through the faucet just in case a bug or something has crawled up in there. At campsites, I again run water 1st, and also use a little alcohol to sway down around the threads of the faucet. I also keep my hoses in a dedicated container far away from contaminants......charcoal lighter fluid, gas, and especially sewer fittings. I also run a little diluted bleach solution through them every spring while sterilizing my fresh water tank.

Some people say that I am anal.

I always attach my hose (with pressure regulator) to the supply faucet and turn it on until water runs out of the hose. Then I turn the water off and attache it to my trailer. That blows out most of the air in the hose and the trailer faucets don't jump and spit when first turned on.

We ended up just throwing the old new hose away & buying brand new hose. We purchased the NeverKink hose in white & it worked great on our recent trip. We do have a Pressure reducer valve already but it wasn't causing the smell as far as I can determine.

I would definitely recommend the NeverKink hose so far.
