He also told me there is metal in the shell. On this site, I'm seeing the changeover from wood to metal took place mainly after 2000. Were some changed before year 2000?

I was pretty sure the changeover was 2002-2003. I would guess to be sure you could back our a frame screw or 2 to see if there is wood there?
