The center latches for one or both shells can be adjusted. The center latches (aka main latches) are the tough steel ones located, no surprise, near the center of the trailer, not to be confused with the lightweight corner latches. When you close the camper down, the pin in the shell engages the hook part of the center latch.

In order to close the gap, you can either move the hook for the front shell down, or move the hook for the rear shell up. However, it is best to adjust the rear shell so that when it is down, it rests solidly on the walls of the main box. Then pull the front shell down to meet it.

Hope that was clear.
