Default Highlands Hammock State Park (Sebring, FL)

We just got back from Highlands Hammock State Park--it was a great weekend with our TM (affectionately named "Poppy" by our children).

This is Florida's First State Park and it is wonderful! It has pleny of gorgeous trails to "hike" and some of the most quintessential Florida landscape available!! (We hiked all of the trails in 1.5 days with 4 very small children (ages 5 and under)--some trails multiple times--so, you can too!) There are large, ancient and beautiful oak trees in the hammock areas with pines, palms and wild oranges/grapefruits abounding. The Tram Tour is fantastic--be sure to catch it!!

We stayed at a site up under some beautiful trees--completely shaded. The facilities are older and modest, but clean. (Except for near the sites in the 100's--those facilities are rather new.)

We happily and highly recommend a visit to Highlands Hammock!!

We are enjoying life!! Next month...Anastasia State Park and Old Town St. Augustine!! Let the journey continue!
