Yes, the dinette is a little (6", I believe) longer when converted to a bed. The couch has arms, which encroach into the sleeping length.

I thought my wife would prefer the sofa, as it gives a bit more floor space. But, I took her to look at both models, and she insisted on the dinette. She much preferred the table situation, and wanted to be able to look at the people on the other side of the table while eating. The sofa is harder to get that setup. Plus, when dining, it is easy to look out the window over the other peoples' shoulders, instead of looking left or right. Minor, but a factor.

And, as indicated, the dinette is a better sleeping arrangement. I have used it for adults (5' 9") for a few weekends, and it is more comfortable than a folding couch.

It all depends on your situation. For us, the dinette is a much better option than the couch. For Padgett and Bill, the couch works better.
