Battles, your terlit is a "recirculating" one which is designed to save on water. It does not work like a regular terlit. In the terlit itself, it has a tank of about 6 gallons or so, when you pull that handle, it drains about a gallon or so into the drain line that runs from the last valve ya pull to dump the whole thing. That is what you're probably hearing when you pull that handle. You don't need to pull the handle to flush it, you only pull the handle when it's full, and you're ready to dump. (Or to gain back that extra gallon or so when it's become full already). Basically, the recirculating terlit doesn't have a "holding tank" per se, it's got a small one where it runs stuff through a screen to filter out the solids. Anyway, hope all this makes sense to ya...........
