Default Itasca State Park, MN

The wife and I went to Itasca State Park this last weekend. We stayed in the Bearpaw campgroud. We went without reservations due to short planning time but the park has 22 first come first serve sites and we got one. Then Saturday morning we moved to a site with electric. $22 for non electric sites and $31 for with electric. The pole had 110, 30 Amp and 50 amp on them. The sites are all back in and none have water. They are fairly far apart, I'd say 30 ft. Their were 2 bathroom buildings, 1 with pit toilets and 1 with powered bathrooms with 6 showers and a pop machine. The showers had good pressure and were hot. There is a dump site on the way out of the camp and Sunday it looked like about an hour or more wait. You cannot bring in your own wood it had to be local. %6 for a bundle of slivers at the park or go out the north entrance and on the left at the top of the hill is a store/gas station that sells normal size piece bundles for the same price and the bundles are about 25% bigger. There is a lot to do here. hiking, biking, boating and a couple of visitor centers with walks and classes. the 1 visitors center also has breakfast. You can also walk across the Mississippi head waters here and climb an old fire tower. There is another camp in the park but we didnt go to it at all. The park is 20 miles north of Park Rapids, MN.
