I actually did have a hitch lock on it - one of those Reese bright yellow ones (ball into the hitch, loop goes over and sort of ratchets into the lock). It apparently took him about 5 minutes to cut it off with a hack saw. I replaced it with one from Harbor Freight that is much uglier, but has a hardened steel bar and is secured with a separate lock. At least that will take them a little longer. I think I going to put one of those boot locks on a wheel too. I know you can't stop someone who knows what they're doing from getting it, but most of this anti- theft stuff is really just a deterrent to the opportunistic thief, and that's a lot of what goes on.
Thanks to everyone for your posts, it was a pretty depressing feeling when I thought it was gone!
