Now if someone were to use a 5" square pvc fence post then you really need to make sure you have a cover to prevent the hose from sliding out.
My 4" pipe is primarily secured with the same plumbers strap that you are using. The 4 zip ties are secondary. The heavy duty zip ties are incredibly strong. Nice thing about the 4" pvc tube, aside from hanging down an inch less, is that caps and fittings are available at any home improvement store.
