I did something similar with the 4" square pvc fence post. Initially I used 36" long zip ties, but one snapped and I upgraded the attachments to some j-bolts and a short holes strap on the bottom. It's very secure. I had two caps on the 4" pvc, but the street side came off, but I find that my dump hose stays in place. So, I'm not worried it will slide out.
Now if someone were to use a 5" square pvc fence post then you really need to make sure you have a cover to prevent the hose from sliding out.
