Hi,
We love to camp in Custer State Park! Blue Bell and Stockade are quite nice. This is for future reference for you. They do have camping cabins in many of the locations in the park. We love to visit The Crazy Horse Memorial - It is truly a beautiful work of art.
Wind Cave NP is great.... if you are interested in getting into the caves, see if reservations are available. Same goes for Jewel cave. The both have some amazing sights.
If you like to bike, the Mickelson Trail is great. You can go for miles and miles and see some amazing sights.
Animal activity on the Wildlife loop in Custer State Park is best early in the morning and early evening. Animals may not be too active in the heat of the day. Last year we stopped in the middle of one of the bison herds on a gravel road. Just amazing to stop and watch from inside the TV.
If you are into fishing, there are some locations that provide gear and the day fishing pass.
