You want to use something a lot stronger than any "adhesive caulk". There are alternate brands of "boat sealant", but I'd go with one of the original 3M formulas.

I have used 3M 4200 to rebuild a corner of my 2619, accidentally smashed into a garage door frame corner - and the repair is still holding together really well after many years. (Although it has turned slightly yellow, in comparison to original TM white paint and the bright white plastic "external bracing" colors.)

3M '4200' has better resistance to UV, but it's slightly flexible. For this repair, I would choose 3M '5200' - much stronger and more resistance against flexing. For either one, clean thoroughly, and then use just a tiny bit of "misting spray" water (not big drops) to assist the curing process.
