What looks like a center sealer strip isn't really a sealer. It's pretty much decoration. The two pieces of aluminum that meet in the middle are overlaped and sealed quite well. Occasionally some one has a leak if this bond is broken, but I don't think it is all that common. When it does leak, they have used a strip of Eternabond seal. (This is the only place I'd recommend the use of Eternabond, BTW. Anywhere else, use a product like Proflex).

According to that picture though, the seal looks intact over the front.
