View Full Version : Air Conditioner
Can anyone advise the wattage (or current) draw for the air conditioner installed in the TMs. We are still awiting delivery of our unit, but I'm considering a generator purchase and would like to be able to run the AC. Just wanting to buy the minimum wattage (for purposes of noise reduction) and wanted to get a ball-park idea of what the power needs would be to run the A/C.
Thanks in advance
Dan
Dan,
You'll need at least a 3,000 watt unit. We have two Honda EU2000i generators, they're quiet. One alone didn't make the grade when the A/C kicked in. The startup load was just too great. I bought a special parallel cable to hook the two generators together, but the weather hasn't been warm enough to give this a try.
The 30amp service in our 2720 TM is enough to run the A/C, so if you get enough wattage (i.e. 3,600 watts) that'll support a current load. The A/C doesn't pull that much. We have the window A/C unit. I can't speak for the overhead units in the larger trailers.
Hope this helps!
