I'm getting ready to store my trailer for the winter :( , and so I was interested in this "Tip of the Month" in the November issue of Goodsam's Highway magazine. Basically they suggest that you place a vapor barrier between your tires and the ground surface when storing your trailer. The idea is that the vapor barrier keeps the tires from absorbing moisture from the ground. Once the moisture in into the tire it can cause some deterioration of the bonding between the threads (potentially leading to thread separation ???). Apparently you can use plastic sheets for this purpose (I wouldn't think that wood would work well - since it is relatively porus ?). I store on concrete, and now plan to use some plastic jack stand feet to place under my tires during the winter storage.

Has anyone else heard of this ? Does anyone else follow this practice ? It seems to make sense and can't hurt anything, but I would like some of your opinions.
